So I got my Y580 this past Monday, and initially I only had problems when running Diablo 3. After booting up the program, within 10 seconds the screen would turn black momentarily, then within another 3 seconds it would turn black again, but the third time it would stay black for about 15-20 seconds. When Diablo showed up again, the cycle would repeat. I occasionally had some luck running Diablo without hiccups, but I couldn't find a way to reliably get past the black screen issue.

This all happened with the stock Nvidia drivers, so I tried installing both beta drivers 304.48 and 304.79 to no avail.

Now today, this issue has started to happen with several other games (CS:GO and Starcraft 2). Throughout all of this, Dota 2, however, has run with 0 issues.

I have looked around this forum and google in general but I haven't come across another person who had this black screen issue only when running games (i.e. when using the GTX 660M I guess). Does anyone have a guess as to whether this is a driver/software issue or some hardware issue with the GTX 660M?

    Thanks in advance

Seems like a hardware issue. Send it back

mine was solved by getting a replacement. get the process started now. they let me keep the defective one until the replacement came in. took a month. so start soon. I noticed mine did partially fix itself over time. but the issue will still happen afterwards. My replacement works perfectly fine and i love it :) i say have it replaced :)
