Hey NBRers. I just got my Y580 in yesterday, and have been quite underwhelmed due to some of the subtle problems I have found with the Lenovo software. One problem that I would like to solve in this thread has to do with a specific Firefox hotkey function.

In Firefox, the hotkey combination to open a new tab is CTRL + SHIFT + T. I have used it on all of my previous computers with no problem. However, with the Y580, as soon as I press CTRL + SHIFT + T, a wallpaper screen (presumably Lenovo software) comes up.

I find this to be really annoying because I would like to continue using my Firefox hotkeys for Firefox functions, without the idiotic (pardon me) Lenovo software from getting in the way. I can't find anyway to disable the Lenovo software screen from popping up.

    Any help would be appreciated.

My clean install of Win7 Ultimate does not exhibit this problem. I installed all of Lenovo's software except onekey recovery. The wallpaper screen could be some other software. Sorry that I'm unable to help.

I thought the shortcut for opening tab in Firefox is just Control + T?

Control+Shift+T re-opens the last closed tab.

Thanks a bunch for that link. I'd much rather have my Firefox functions to be working properly than Lenovo's "Intelligent" Touchpad.

Oh oops, my mistake. I meant that CTRL + SHIFT + T restores the last closed tab, as Seranis mentioned.

    Finally fixed it!

And to anyone who is having similar issues, here's an easier way to disable Lenovo's "Intelligent" Touchpad without having to uninstall the program=

    1) Press the Windows key, and type in "msconfig", then press enter. A menu should pop up.
    2) Click on the "Startup" tab, and scroll down until you see "Intelligent Touchpad", then uncheck the box next to it
    3) Press "OK", and your computer will prompt you to restart for the changes to take effect. After you restart, the problem should be gone.

    Cheers!

This worked perfectly. I created an account just to give thanks. If anyone is wondering, this did not affect the useful gestures like back/forward three-finger swipe while browsing, and four-finger swipe up and down to access the window switcher and show desktop, respectively.
