So I got my y580 back in october and it started having this issue since about a week after I got it. It's never been dropped and nothing has ever hit the screen. Basically what happens is when the laptop screen is at a certain (well most angles) the screen flickers really badly (just today it started completely going black) and shows weird thick lines of colors (a bunch of colors, hard to explain ill see if i can capture it with a picture). It seems if i have the screen at just the right angle it wont do it/if i keep it on a desk but if i lay in bed and put it on my lap it does it very badly. I believe its a hardware issue as the issue disappears if i move the hinge (and also doesent do this if its plugged into an external monitor). It must be the connection from the monitor to the motherboard (or graphics card? I know desktops well not laptops).
My question is, where is that connection? I took the back panel off and pushed on the few connections there was there but the issue persists. I would like to try to fix it myself to avoid having to RMA it...as I waited a good long 1.5 month to get the laptop in the mail in the first place.
Thanks!

I've had almost the same problem with my 1st 580. Like yours, I've already had to RMA it once. I don't get all different colors, just Magenta. I'm not enthused about having to RMA it again but as it is now my wife's lappy, it doesn't bother me so much.
Y580 Screen flickering, showing bars of colors. Loose connection?
