Okay so I received my y580 last week and I love it. It's great and powerful enough for what I'm doing. But out of curiosity is the graphics card and cpu upgradeable like on alienware laptops? Or are they soldered directly to the board?

    Realistically, not.

It's quite a task to disassemble the laptop to get to the GPU/GPU. Additionally the fan is nice and quiet but overall the overall cooling design isn't great. I'd hesitate to put either a beefier CPU or GPU into the laptop. Save the money and buy a new laptop in 3 years instead :)

Awesome thanks for the response, I was simply curious. Another question, I was reading up on the custom vbios for the 660m that allows overclocking, would the vbios be possible on the lenovo, or is it not a universal deal?

I haven't been following recent developments but I don't think we know for sure yet.
