My Dell Monitor just broke today.

Now I'm thinking of getting a new 24" monitor with Intel widi support or mhl to get rid of a few cables or alternative get a 27" with ultra hd as it will soon be the new standard I hope.

Does anyone know what limitations Intel widi has ?

From what I've found the Intel hd4000 max resolution are 2560x1600 so that it's not the limiting factor. I'm not to shut about the max resolution for hdmi or Intel widi though.

Am I suck to 1920x1080 as the Y580 doesn't have a display port?

If I'm not mistaken some HDMI are only capable of displaying 1080p MAX, i don't think it's the graphics card itself holding back the resolution but more the HDMI that has been equipped.

Depending on what HDMI you have, I think you need 1.3 or more to be able to do that high of a resolution.

Hdmi 1.4 can output 4k but what version does the Y580 have?

I've just seen on YouTube that 4k on an Intel hd4000 is no problem :)

I would say 1920*1200... some HDMI is said to spec at 2560*1600@60hz or higher but never read any user confirm can do that....

    widi 2.0 is 1080p iirc
