Hi All,
Not sure if this has been posted already.
I was just browsing the Lenovo UK site. It lists the Y560/570 model on there main site here However if you goto there shop to buy a Y series it lists the Y580 here
Quick specs:
Up to 3rd Gen Intel® Core™ i7-3610QM processor
Windows® 7 Home Premium
NVIDIA GeForce GTX660M 2GB graphics
8GB DDR3 memory
Up to 1TB hard drive
Up to 4 hours/6 cell battery
15.6” HD display
Starting at 2.70 kgs / .9" thin
Wowsers it's lists a 660m gfx card....
The i7 ivy bridge is only £999 with a 1Tb drive and blu-ray....
Apologies if this has already been listed.
BTW does anyone know if these have Trusted Platofrm Module onboard?

Only? Are you kidding me?
That translates to $1566 USD, when people across the ocean are paying around $870 after discounts, with some even bagging an Xbox 360 along with it.
This country is screwed mate. -

That model is actually $1,199 in the states (after $430 discount), still cheaper yeah, but not by as much as that. -
I bought mine (FHD, w/o Win, DVD, 750GB) for ~939€. With Win I would have to spend ~59€ more and I didn't need os because I already had one.
-
Any reviews out there for this laptop??
-
How did you get it without an OS? I didn't even know that was possible...
-
Hm...Quite normal: webshop->search (y580)->add to basket->and that's it.
I thought that this model can be normally bought everywhere...at least in EU, where there were few situations (in Poland at least) when company didn't want to sell w/o OS and had problems later with Supreme Audit Office (I think it's called like this in English).
But there is something that can balance this, if only a little. I didn't found model with BD and HDD other then 750MB 5400rpm. And I'm still wondering if I have mSATA - probably will open it tomorrow morning to check this. -
That thing is the size of the Yellow Pages!

And by that you mean it's big, small or average? For me it's just like every other notebook within this price and screen size range.
-
I agree.
Everyone always forgets that there is sales tax to add to this price (~8%), unless you live in Delaware where the sales tax is 0%.
I would be really interested in finding this out as Lenovo support in the UK told me that it doesn't have a msata port

Only 8%? We have 23% here
I've made photo this morning for my review that I'm about to write and there is definitely mSATA port. But I don't know if my model could be considered as EU or just Poland.Attached Files:

Seems the Lenovo UK site now says the Y580 i7 1080p model comes with a 1TB drive and 64GB mSSD. Sure it said 32GB the other day!
Can't decide if this laptop is worth getting now (can get it with a code for £899 - that's the i7 1080p model with Blu-ray). Or wait a few months and see if something better comes along? -
There are always better options in the future. With that assumption in mind you can wait forever.
-
I have to say that you'd be hard pressed to get this level of spec for 900 quid.
My new work people ordered this for me a couple of weeks ago and at the time didn't have the 64gb ssd cache....
Also remember that you are at the cutting edge here, as these are the first laptops using the ivy processors...
As Draghmar said something better will always be around the corner. -
You can wait for Haswell next year.=D
-
I'm thinking the exact same thing, it's got good specs for it's price. But will something better come along(Before the end of September), or is this the best deal? How long will this laptop be available with all of its current specs for the price? Will it lower in a couple months time(Before September?)
-
You know...there only one answer to your questions: maybe.
-
Did anybody buy this model in the U.K?
Is it going with backlight keyboard? -
Yes mine did
-
Is everything o.k with it?
How long did you wait? -
About 2 weeks, I think it is a great machine
-
Just ordered it on 29/07.
The long wait begins, I called up and was told that they take 2-3 business days to dispatch from the warehouse in China, and then take another 4-6 days to ship to the UK via UPS delivery.
Let's see how it goes, I hope it isn't a long wait as I am without a laptop atm lol.
I hope any of this information will be useful to potential/future UK people about to buy the Y580. -
ordered on 25.07.2012 will arrive on 06.09.2012 .
(germany)
lenovo sells only thinkpads directly in germany.
you have to order via retailer. -
Dabs have them in Stock. Reckon they can deliver next day. Really, want a deal on £999 though
-

-
Ultra everything on bf3 _ so impressed. No heat worries or mucking about with hard drives. Just get on and level up.
