If you install the OS in a mSATA SSD, do you lose the One Key recovery function in the Y580?

Depends, did you delete the lenovo partition?

Can someone explain to me how you convert the mSATA to a basic drive? I can't seem to get it to work in the disk manager.

Are you trying to install the OS in the mSATA?
If so, what some people suggests is to take out the HDD before installation so you can select the mSATA. I don't remember if you have to check the BIOS to change the order for boot.

That's my goal, yes. Been looking at Mushkin Atlas and Crucial M4 mSATA SSDs, still not sure which one to pick (I want reliability above all and, if possible, less heat).

I ordered the 768p and 1 Tb option, since it will be plugged to a large screen and that HDD could be a nice external storage eventually. :)

Does the Y580 come with the screws to attach the mSATA drive?

If you get a Y580 that comes with a small mSATA you get the screw, if it doesn't come with the mSATA then no screw. The crucial is very reliable, I've got the 256 in mine.

That's the one I'm leaning towards.

What kind of screws are we talking about, by the way?
