I'm very close to getting my wife a Yoga 13. She's an author, and it's a tossup between this and the Latitude E6430u. I will give Lenovo the benefit of the doubt and assume their keyboard is as good as the latitude's, but I am really put off by the touchpad.

She uses the touchpad exclusively, very rarely using the mouse, and her biggest use for it is to select and highlight text, move it around, etc. Basically using the left-click, holding it, and moving around. How is the touchpad at doing that? When I tried it in the store it seemed OK, but I just want to confirm before I get it and she goes nuts at how bad it is.

Thanks! Any other cons/pros about getting it for an author?

I do not own an yoga system but from what you are saying, your spouse has no use of a touch screen system. Since she is an author is better for you if you concentrate towards a ThinkPad system which has a better battery life and ofcourse a much better keyboard (backlit) and touchpad which will be one of the best in the market.

    Best of luck!

I own a Yoga, and I think the touchpad is fine. But I agree with the above post. It's not made to type for hours on end, and no backlit keyboard is a drag.
