What's the deal on the Best Buy exclusive Yoga 2 Pro? I'm thinking about purchasing it as it seems to be the best bang for the dollar, $1199.99 for 8gb, 256ssd, i7 ULV. Pretty sure you can't find a ultrabook that beats these specs with a touchscreen IPS panel for this price?

Is there a catch or something I should know about?

The catch is that you have to buy it at BestBuy ;)

I went to BB to look at it.. It has a Silver top. I love the screen, keyboard, rubbery grip finish around the palm areas.. Very nice machine.. I almost bought it.. I just dont know what's holding me back about it though.. Probably it's mediocre battery life?

I'm between an Ultrabook and a Macbook Pro 13 right now. I could save about $500 by getting the Yoga 2 Pro but it's a trade off on CPU power (17 vs 25watter CPUs) and battery life (much better on MBP). Doubt it's worth the $500 difference and I should probably just grab a Yoga2Pro. The i7 probably isn't that bad for 99% of the things I do compared to the MBP's 25watt i5.

I'd rather buy from Bestbuy than from Lenovo themselves. Seriously, you have a physical store that you can just walk into if you have an issue.

Personally, I'd rather have haggling power over a physical store. plus, at least with ThinkPads and TPP, i can have someone at my door the next business day if something goes wrong.

    Just my opinion, though.

The BB pricing has been weird. I bought mine at BB in April for 1199 then two weeks latter they pushed it to 1399 and now it is back down to 1199. Weird.

Lenovo does seem to have a larger selection on their website for the Y2P and if you chat with a rep they will probably offer a discount code. I was about to buy from lenovo.com when I learned I would still have to pay sales tax so I decided buying from BB was the best choice.

Take a look at the Acer S7 also. It is more expensive but seems like it could be a better product.

I enjoy using mine in tent / tablet mode so I am keeping it.

I know the Acer S7 reviews well but I don't see why it's better? It doesn't have a tablet/tent mode. The only difference is that it gets better battery life over the Y2P.. That, to me, doesn't warrant hundreds of dollars more for the S7.

If you pick up the yoga 2 pro enjoy the dropping wifi, yellowing issues, and the scaling problems.

I had a yoga 2 13 with 8gb and the 256gb ssd and it was almost perfect

I think that Lenovo has already fixed the yellowing issue, iirc.

Dear friends, it's possible to unlock the 15W threshold with Intel Extreme Tuning Utility and set it to 25W !

I set mine to 25watts... results are that it holds turbo clocks for longer but it seems to throttle more often.. around 78-80c

I have one with those specs that I got from the outlet and love it. The battery life is not bad and it charges really fast... the power brick, albeit larger than the standard macbook, is not as bad either so if you have to carry a charger, its not the end of the world. Since getting my YP2 I have debated selling my Retina Macbook Pro 15 (can't really seeing as its acting as my current "desktop" workhorse).
