BTW, for anybody who already bought this does it have windows 8.1 preinstalled? It would seem that is why they are holding back until maybe tomorrow to release them when 8.1 officially come out.

Has anyone tried using the micro-hdmi port? I'm having a lot of issues with it. It acts like a loose connection, yet it seems to fit well. I'm thinking of going out and buying a different adapter or cable. The micro-hdmi adapter I have works fine with my HTC phone, but not with the lenovo yoga 2 pro. I hope its not the yoga I have and it's just the adapter I'm using. If anyone has a good connection, what cable/adapter are you using?
-
Yes, it has Windows 8.1.

The official release date BB gave me was the 20th.

Hopefully, BestBuy will have orange models. Lenovo has a $50 student discount, so I can get the i5/8GB/256GB for $1100, but I'd rather get the i7-4500U if possible. Why won't Lenovo offer the same $250 discount on their i7 models?
-
Also, are there any disadvantages (format and appearance) from lowering the resolution to 1080p when working in these non-conforming programs? -
can anybody confirm if it uses ngff ssd or msata and if it has two ssd slots like the original yoga.
-
I was a sucker for the orange color (and there was no i7 at a best buy in at least a 200 mile radius). Worked with a sales clerk and got the Orange i7/8/256 with the case for $1275. Pretty pleased with the deal and will be a huge upgrade over what I currently have. Downside, the site is a lie, it doesn't ship till the 28th.
-
I got the 512 model for $1484.10 from the Lenovo site. While on the site I got a popup offering 10% off if I sign up for their junk email.
Anyway, during the whole checkout process the ship date always said todays date but the order status page says it ships 10/25. So... They lied. -
Dang the i7 model was available earlier today at a few stores near my but now it's unavailable and only the i5 model is available. I guess others in San Diego are looking at the Yoga 2 as well haha.

I went ahead and picked up a BB i7 version today. I own a Helix, XPS12, Tablet 2, and Asus 810 because I am in the technology sales business. While I have for the most part love my Helix my initial impression of this one is pretty good.
What I like;
The screen.... is unbelievable. Crystal clear and bright. Those who say you cant tell are wrong. My Helix at 1080p on an 11" screen is really good but this is just fantastic. Tack sharp with the font scaling so everything is easy to see, but clear. Once other folks get the font scaling capabilities in their apps this screen will become the standard. Backlit keyboard.....finally. Very light and thin for its size. This thing is half the height of my Helix and weighs less despite being a bigger screen. Very portable and easy to carry. While big in size, it seems easier for me to use as a tablet then expected. Actually not that bad in tablet mode. Much cooler than my Helix in general use so far, and minimal fan noise. Trackpad is pretty good. I like the glass pad on the Helix better but this one is pretty good. Minimal bloatware....with a caveat that I am not yet sold on the "extra" stuff Lenovo is doing and may turn that off later. Fast and seems so far to have good battery life. Has a dedicated Bios button... that is cool. Also like the power button on the front. AC power brick is nice compact size.
What I don't like;
The keyboard...... ok I am spoiled with the Thinkpad keyboards.... and I will get used to this but it is taking me some time to deal with the keys that are not sculpted. I know they needed to make them flat so you don't feel it as much when in tablet but still a bit of a negative. The UGLY metallic logo on the case.....wow that is just bad. No pen.... I know it did nto come with one before I bought it, but this thing screams work machine and a pen would have been ideal here. Lastly for now is there is some screen wobbly if you poke it. The screen is very thin and while the hinges are nice and tight, it is going to move if you poke it much.
So far other than that seems it may be a keeper. Especially at the price of 1200.... this to me is a steal.ferrydust likes this. -

I've had issues with the HMDI as well, First cable I bought at BB ended up shutting the laptop down when plugged in. I got another one from Amazon and it's working fine, but if you jiggle it much it disconnects. Definitely an issue and one I will see about getting fixed at some point I think.
Here is the one I bought Amazon.com: BlueRigger High Speed Micro HDMI to HDMI cable with Ethernet (6 Feet): Electronics
Firefox acts weird as well. I cannot exit from the exit menu or top right X. I have to use the task bar shortcut. -
I would be all over this if Best Buy carried the Orange.
-
So, I am having the same issue with this that I had with the Twist. If using as a desktop connected to a monitor, once it goes to sleep you can not power it on using the power button with the lid closed. Anybody have this issue or have a fix?
-
So, now I have another issue lol
In Internet Explorer Flash is not working. Below is what happens when I test it on Adobe site. See if you laugh too.

Couple updates from my end.
Windows powercfg battery report: link (10-15 and 10-16)
This was after my first full day of usage. I spent a lot of the day installing and configuring new programs (Adobe Collection, MS Office, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.) so I'm sure my use was a little heavier than what it will be on average. I'll do another report tomorrow which will be under a little more typical usage for me.
I attempted to run a couple different Linux distros from Live USB drives. Key word here is: attempted.
- Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS - Live USB loaded, selected Live and it began to load but after waiting for 30 minutes I never got a display.
- Ubuntu 13.10 - Same result as LTS... I guess it's still not supported.
- Crunchbang 11 Waldorf (Built from Debian Weezy) - Live USB loaded, booted up without an issue (got a display). WiFi card is not supported out of the box and the DPI scaling is very inconsistent. Conky is somewhat okay (upscales a bit too much actually) but the rest of the Openbox UI does not upscale well. The tint2 bar is tiny and so are the icons. The text on the right click menu is too large (similarly to Conky). I'm sure with a bit of TLC, it would look fine but out of the box it's not perfect.
If anyone would like me to try another distro, let me know and I'll load it up when I get a chance and report back.wulftone likes this. -
I have an i7 version from best buy.
You have to set "acpi_backlight=vendor" in the kernel boot configuration in grub in order to get distros to work correctly.
Wifi doesn't work out of the box in Kubuntu, Ubuntu, or Fedora. I hope it works with some configuration, but I can't figure it out. I'm beat.
I am going to have to reinstall windows and deal with that for a while. I need to sell my old laptop!
Also KDE doesn't deal with DPI very well. Kubuntu/Ubuntu require boot-repair to be run to complete installation. Fedora 20 booted out of the box but still needed the acpi_backlight hack.
Spread the linux love!!! I want this guy running KDE/XFCE pronto!

My only issue right now (other than horrible scaling in Chrome) is that my WiFi is super unreliable. I've tried with two WiFi networks now, and the laptop frequently shows no internet connectivity despite still being connected to the network.
I'm hoping a driver update will fix this, but the Yoga 2 Pro isn't on Lenovo's support site yet and I haven't bothered to look harder for a newer driver. -
-
EDIT: My previous post got lost I think.
I have the i7 silver version from bestbuy. I attempted to install Kubuntu 13.04/13.10(b2), Ubuntu, and Fedora 20. I was able to get them installed however Kubuntu needs the boot repaired which I'm unable to do (lacking any ethernet....)
Fedora 20 installed correctly and booted. All the distro's I tried require a kernel argument to boot. acpi_backlight=vendor
I didn't try to remove the drive and make a complete backup!
Does anyone have any idea how I can restore the system to factory fresh?wulftone likes this. -
So I noticed the scrolling ad at the bottom of What Would Mykel Hawke Do? (lenovo minisite) says MADDEN should get you 15% off for the yoga 2 pro. That didn't work. But it also says that SCOUTS should get 20% off the old yoga. That DID work on the yoga 2 pro configurations that aren't already discounted via the other coupons. Got the orange 8g/256gb/i7 config for $1500 - 20% + tax for $1313.12 shipped to WA state. Go get em!

Hey guys, I just picked up the yoga 2 from bb today. Its so thin and the qhd display is wonderful! I was wondering if anyone figured a way to modify the colors, I also don't see the color "yellow" in paint.
Is there any way to invert the scrolling on the touchpad? I hate how two finger scrolling downward makes the page go up.....ferrydust likes this. -

Quick question - does Lenovo still only have manual keyboard backlight activation, or is there a way to get it to come on automatically... or stay on permanently?

i thought the Yoga 2 Pro was coming with an 802.11ac WiFi, not N?

After 2 days of use I can confirm this thing lasts over 6 hours doing normal browsing/email, and general playing around on the ultrabook. I have had just a little lag every so often with the i5 with 4gbs, but not enough to be unhappy if all I could afford was the i5. The internet at my work did drop connection a coupe times, but that is my works wifi, not the yoga. At home, I have had zero wifi issues. I have had a couple of freezes, but closing the screen and re-opening fixed it both times. I did all the windows updates today and have not experienced a lock up yet since so I will cross my fingers. Also, the 200 scaling is fine so far, and IE is great with it so I don't really care if I ever put chrome on it. Chrome is starting to lose my interest anyway, as I am going away from gmail, etc.. and back towards outlook.com etc.
When I used my outlook.com log in on the yoga on initial setup, it brought all my emails, xbox360 profiles, etc with it automatically. This is a great feature as I have wanted a windows eco system across all devices for a while now and this fits the bill. If windows would make a phone like the note 3 then I could completely change over, but that's probably still a ways off, if ever.
As far as ram goes, I think the 8gb ram will make the experience slightly better, so if you can afford it, I would recommend the i7 8gb over the i5 4gb.Jeff44 likes this. -
One thing I forgot to add. Closing the lid and re-opening seems to fix the quirks I have encountered so far.

how in the world does lenovo manage to put out a super duper QHD+ display that can't even do the simplest thing like accurate color replication?ferrydust likes this. -
If this is a problem with the display itself, Lenovo is going to have a lot of RMA's. -
Is the ram user upgradeable or soldered? And the hdd?
-
This problem is the 1st thing that has me really concerned. Could this be an actual software issue across so many programs??? Windows desktop (solid color) ms paint, office, even the screen saver. Or is it just the red/blue/green settings that are all maxed out by default?

has anyone tried connecting a monitor to their yoga to see if the yoga can at least output an accurate yellow to the monitor?
