Hey thinking about buying the yoga i3 because it will run cooler and better battery life. I have used most of the ivy bridge ultra books and there really is not much difference between ulv i7 to i3 in my opinion. Anyway main concern is heat and fan noise. And does 8gb of ram even make a difference in these. The main reason I may wait to get one is haswell and the fact that I really want the orange one. But I rather spend less since difference is really not much

I have a lot of people ask me about my Yoga (I visit many different companies as part of my job). My answer is always "DO NO BUY" due to the two big issues: poor wireless and fan noise.

If you can wait, then my opinion is that you should wait and see what the next version looks like. Haswell might let them run the fans at lower rpm. They might replace the crappy Realtek wireless card with Intel and/or improve the antenna routing.

The only reason I bought one when I did was I needed a convertible for work and I got it very cheap at the Lenovo Outlet.

More on topic: I've had two Yogas, an i7/8GB and an i5/4GB and don't really notice any performance difference between them in day-to-day use. I never run virtual machines though.

But there will be new options over the next 3-4 months. A Haswell i5 will likely get much better battery life than an ivy bridge i3.

I second that!! I've said that exact thing so many times. ...and My Yoga is in depot getting a new touchscreen.

My recommendation is the Dell XPS 12 or one of the newer Asus options like the upcoming Zenbook Infinity.
