I bought a Z580 a month or so ago and have had nothing but problems with the wireless connection ever since. It works fine on my home network with a Linksys wrt160n router, but when I go to campus the wireless seems intermittent. Sometimes it works really fast and other times it takes 10 refreshes of a web page just to get all the content. I am not talking about small or unknown web sites here either, but google, yahoo, reddit and the like. This only happens at campus yet from my perspective no one else is having problems with 600+ people in the library all with connections that are not going slow. It originally came with windows 8, but I removed that and installed windows 7 because I like it more. although the problem was inherit with windows 8 as well. I have updated the drivers to the newest version straight from intel even though the website says that they are version 15.6.1 the device manager says that they are 15.4.1.1 I removed the Proset software because apparently it installed some sort of mini wifi virtual adapters on this computer in case I wanted to tether other devices to it. It has only improved marginally from all those changes. I am usually sitting beneath the two wifi repeaters is what I would call them so signal isn't an issue as it has all 5 bars lit up. I have no idea why this thing is so consistently slow and intermittent. Any help would be appreciated.

You can always check using a cheap USB wifi card. Or if you have another laptop, swap wifi cards.
It may also be some weird connectivity thing between the Intel card and older wifi nodes. I'd try connecting to other free wifi spots at the library and McDonalds to test the stability of the card in your laptop.
