I need a new laptop by august, and I have my heart set on a Thinkpad Z60t, for various reasons. I've been following the development of the Z61 core duo systems, and it seems like they will never be released... Anyway, having no experience with dual core processors, is it worth the wait for the Z61t, or do you think I'd be perfectly happy with the Z60t's pentium M.

Here's what I want to do with the laptop.
    Word Processing/Web Access.
    The Occasional Movie
    Music
Gaming isn't important (since I have a desktop) but if I can play the occasional game of Sims or something similar, that'd definally be a huge bonus. (however, if I can't play games, its not a deal breaker).

there is one Z61m with 15.4" in the lenovo website, but he is looking for Z61t (14") and its not out yet... I'd go for Z61 rather than the older Z60 since its core duo...

Try customizing a z60t with core duo and see if the model doesnt change to z61t. that worked for me on 5/21 and I talked to customer service trying to cancel and I amy not be able too since the packing slip went out already. may have to accept it and return it.. i decided to get an x60s instead but the z61 is available

you'll be more than happy with a pentium M if those are all the things you're going to do.

even if you dont need to do much with it, i would go for the z61 just because if youre going to get a laptop (or any electronic thing) you should go for the best you can afford so it lasts longer and can support the things youre going to want to do in the future. that said, the z61 is very expensive at the moment so you might not want to pay too much. i would go with the z61
