Let me break it down first:

    1. I need it to be portable.
    2. Relatively inexpensive; < $1500.
    3. I rarely play games. The most demanding is Age of Empires II.

I'm a little dissapointed that it's not core duo like the Macbook which is also $200 cheaper. From you guys perspective, which laptop would make a better college notebook?

    Thanks.

It really all depends on your needs.

Do you think you could fill out the FAQ and post it in the corresponding forum? That'd help a lot.

If you want a nice, inexpensive Dual Core notebook, look at the Lenovo N100. The configs are sweet and the prices are sweeter.

This one blows the the $1099 MacBook away.

    Model name 06892BU
    Description Lenovo 3000 N100
    Web Price* $1,099.00

Bigger HDD, DVD-RW, tons of ports. There's also a $100 rebate, so the price drops to $999. Lenovo Rebates

I would fill out the FAQ, but it's got so many excessive questions. The 3 points I listed at the only concerns I have. I would get a cheaper HP, Dell, or Acer but I really do have aesthetics on my mind too. The Z60t whether in Ti or Black is gorgeous. It's so sleek. In my opinion, it's the only thing that rivals the streamlined look of the Macbook. Furthermore, because I am a college student, I'd want a multimedia experience as well. That's why I overlooked the T60: it doesn't have a widescreen.

This is the one I'm looking at.

@Heyu: At the school I'll be attending, a huge percentage of students use Mac. From the people I actually saw, it was relatively 50-50.

    //EDIT

I just read about the new Z61t. Any idea on a price tag for those? And release date?

They've been released already, but there aren't many listed on lenovo's site. I think there are a couple that are labeled as z60's, but if you look they actually have the core duo processors.

This is the only z61t on costcentral; it's the same as the one you linked to at buy.com, but the z61 version of it. The only bad thing right now is that you won't get the $200 rebate that's offered on the z60's, though I think that expires tonight anyway.
