I placed my order on 3/23/06, and I submitted my credit card number on 3/29/06. So far, the website is telling me the estimated ship date, which has been slipping by one day everyday so far, is 5/15/06. My Lenovo sales representative isn't answering his phone or returning my messages, neither is his manager. He told me last week that it would ship by 4/20/06. Everyday I call, they have a new excuse, and they "don't know why it hasn't shipped yet." -- I was also told a while back that I would have it "in my hands in the second week of April.". It's not a ThinkExpress model, it's a 2529GAU CTO model, details here : http://krhainos.tk/thinkpad.GIF. I got it on academic discount from my university, and I'm hoping that's not the reason it's taking this long.
I don't have many options left since I'm leaving for Japan in May. I'm hoping it would show up before I head to the airport, but at this point I don't have much faith left in Lenovo.
Is this sort of behavior typical for Lenovo, or am I getting shafted? Is there something I should/can do? Has anyone else ordered a CTO Z60m recently and had better luck?

Call up and threaten to cancel. Or you could order from somewhere on the internet which already has some in stock, but you won't get the security of Lenovo's return policy.
-
I want to stick with Lenovo's return policy. I'm also going to wait until the 20th before crying bloody murderer and threatening to cancel since Lenovo said right on the order form that it "may take up to 2 to 4 weeks" due to high demand. Also 4/20 is also the only date that has remained consistant so far for more than a week.
But the fact that now no one seems to be able to come up with a new excuse now that I've heard them all. It also doen't help that my rep's voicemail is now full. -
Well, I ordered mine on March 27th, and got it in two weeks or so, even though the web page showed some ridiculous estimated shipping date, I think it means nothing really, just some abstract number. Customer service is horrible, they charged my credit card twice, my sales representative wouldnt answer emails or calls..
-
Because, mine was the latter. The prebulit ThinkExpress/TopSeller models seem to ship really quickly. -
One thing for sure, this thinkpad is the best laptop I've seen. I am so happy I returned my dell.. -
Bah. -
UPDATE :
The "Manager of Public Sector" gave me a call today, and he told me my Z60m hasn't shipped yet. Apparently, something has gone terribly wrong at the factory (LG? Toshiba?) that makes the Dual-Layer DVDRW ("CTO Multiburner") and the new revised drives are causing some strange interaction between the motherboard and RAM. All Z60 models with the Multiburner are affected, and the manufacturing of those notebooks have been halted until they can resolve the problem. Z60-series notebooks with say the 8x DVD-ROM or the Combo drive aren't affected. The hold-up didn't really bite Lenovo until all the TopSeller/ThinkExpress models in the warehouses were sold, and they didn't have more notebooks getting shipped in.
At the moment, there are talks of "compensation on Lenovo's part" if my order misses it's 4/27 ship date. -
Cancelled my order. Rep told me he had "no idea" when my order would ship and "didn't know why" it didn't ship.
Thusly, ending my being a (present and future) customer of Lenovo. -
lenovo is as terrible as the newkeyboard layout
