Lenovo outlet has the Z60m for $999. Here is the specs:
    • Intel® Centrino® Mobile Technology
    · Intel® Pentium® M Processor 750 (1.86GHz)

    • Genuine Windows® XP Professional

    • 15" WSXGA+ (1680x1050) TFT display

    • 512MB DDR2 SDRAM memory[3]

    • 80GB 5400rpm hard drive[4]

    • Intel PRO/Wireless 2915ABG; Bluetooth[14]

    • Titanium cover

    • Integrated Gigabit Ethernet and modem

    • DVD burner

    • 128MB ATI Mobility RADEON x600

    • 6.47lbs; (W)14.1" x (D)10.3" x (H)1.6"

    • 9 cell Lithium-Ion battery[13]

    • 3-year system/1-year battery limited warranty[8]

I know its not Core Duo, or Core 2 Duo, but doI really need it. I mostly use my notebook for writing, then web design, photoshop, and video editing.

I am not planning on using Vista until it becomes the new standard MS OS in the office and school sytems.

I am only looking to get 3 solid travel years out of it, what do you think?

The only real contender with a mid range card and that price would the dell e1505. Between the two I really dont know what I would do. You get much better quality but slightly outdated components and the dell has less quality but up to date components. If your not a heavy user I would go with the IBM because of its looks and its quality.

The Z60m seems like a good deal. However maybe you should get more ram. This will help a lot with photoshop and editing videos.

Photoshop is faster with the Core Duo, but the Pentium M is still a very good CPU.

    Definitely good deal.
but just check whether WSXGA+ (1680x1050) resolution is OK for you.

Guys, please don't compare ThinkPad to Dell's Inspiron ... it's just blasphemy

and yes you'll get more then 3 solid travel years...

If I were traveling around a lot I wouldn't want to schlepp a 15-incher. But to each his own.
