Can someone weigh out the Z60t with the titanium lid? I'm trying to decide on a laptop and I want to know how much the Z60t actually weighs (not the published weight). The weight range for the Z60t is pretty wide according to Lenovo's spec sheet (between 4.1 to 5.1 lbs). I'd be happy with the 4 lb weight and I'm trying to figure out why the great range of weight differences. If you don't have the titanium lid, that's fine too. If you can, please list your model number.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

I weighed the Z60t sold at Office Depot.
It had 80GB HD, 512MB RAM, DVD RW, WWAN, etc. and Ti lid.
Weight was 5lb. 7 3/4 oz. on an electronic scale from our lab.

If you check the IBM site you'll see the extra weight of the Ti lid. Unfortunately with some Z60t models - e.g for the 2.0 Pentium M which I ordered, the only option is Ti.

The T42 I had before, weighed only 5lb. 1 1/8oz. - lovely laptop. Price has dropped due to plans to discontinue it.

    Regards

I reviewed that laptop and didn't measure it as precisely as ken did but instead used a regular bathroom scale and if memory serves it was at about 5.5 lbs (I need to invest in a more accurate scientific electronic scale, they're darned expensive though)

If weight is an important factor, get a black one. Depending on the config, they weigh in @ only 4.1 - 4.9 pounds.

If you're going to be on your feet more than you'll be sitting down on any given day, weight should definitely be a factor. Otherwise, a half-pound difference probably won't matter - especially assuming you're going to have other stuff (accessories, books, a briefcase, etc.). Think of it this way: A T-shirt weighs about half of a pound, as does a cell phone equipped with a case and headset. Fit and performance first - always (the same holds true when outfitting yourself for a backpacking trip).

Half a pound is never going to be a factor. Even if you are on your feet all day. The width and looks of the titanium cover might be viewed as positive or negative, but the weight? I doubt it.
