Any idea why my icons get rearranged every time I open the cover?
I currently have my desktop set to 1280x768. I have my icons and windows stretched out to utilize the wide screen.
If I close the cover now, then open it, the icons rearrange themselves almost as if the screen was not wide. Any open windows that I have are shrunk too as if the screen was not wide.
IBM Service could not believe it so they sent a tech. He could not believe what he saw. He called support and they could not believe it either.
They ordered me a new system board (backordered, many weeks now). They 'suspect' this 'may' correct both problems (this one and that one). We (the technician and myself) believe they did not send him over with a new system board because they didn't believe what I told them was real. Luckily for me, I was able to reproduce it everytime!

Help!
P.S. I have the latest BIOS (failed before latest and after) and latest everything (according to both Software Installer and System Update). I've tried with and without Presentation Manager. No change. I tried with old PM, newest PM, no PM.

Sounds like you have tried everything. It happens on my Z61t also...that is the icons are rearranged on the desktop when I open and close the lid. I have heard this is a pretty common problem and I will be very surprised if the new motherboard fixes this. I think it is some software issue or maybe a video driver conflicting with the the ThinkVantage settings. I really dont know. I thought Lenovo said something about a new BIOS that fixed this problem? I guess they are wrong.

Same thing happens sometimes to my V100 sometimes when i suspend it.

Thanks!
That worked for me too!
I knew it had something to do with the special software (ThinkVantage) Lenovo includes. Some of their software has caused more problems then what its worth. -

There should be 2 green screen icon displayed on the bottom of the screen

- Press Fn + F7 one more time
There should be 1 green screen icon displayed now
- Go to display properties and change resolution to 1280 x 768
Now, try closing your LID and see what what happens.
