I've had my Z60t since Christmas and I mostly love it. One really annoying feature is whenever I hold my cell phone over the keyboard, it completely turns-off. Even though I have the power connected and two batteries, it just goes bye-bye. In fact, It goes so off that I need to remove all power sources (AC and batteries) for it to reset.

I've narrowed it down to a specific function I do on the phone (download e-mail) and have tried to limit that near the laptop, but sometimes I forget :(. Once I was in the middle of a very important presentation, with many spreadsheets and many powerpoints open

The phone is not Bluetooth, but I've disabled Blootooth on the laptop anyway.

I tried submitting a problem via the web, but I had enough waiting and e-mailing. Three weeks ago a technician came. He could not believe what he saw. He called support and they could not believe it either.

They ordered me a new system board (still backordered). They 'suspect' this 'may' correct both problems (this one and that one). We (the technician and myself) believe they did not send him over with a new system board because they didn't believe what I told them was real. Luckily for me, I was able to reproduce it everytime!

Holding my breath in New Jersey.

I've had a problem with the Z60t also when the computer momentarily restarts itself for no reason. I don't know why that happens though.

I have a Z60m with somewhat similar problems of shutting itself off unexpectedly twice and then finally the last time I was not able to switch it back on again. I called Lenovo, sent it in and got it back with a new system board installed within 3 days flat. First time I was impressed with Lenovo.

But now I have a new problem since they install the new system board. The Client Security System does not work properly and I am not able to use the fingerprint feature. They sent me instructions as how to download a file from their website and run it but still did not work.

Service guy came last night, tried removing the WAN card, still failed. Tried removing the LAN card, still failed. Tried removing the Bluetooth card, still failed. Took 3 hours to replace the System Board, still failed. Since it fails with the phone held over the processor, and since they've tried everythig else, they are now going to replace the processor (scheduled for tomorrow).

That is really strange; I've heard of interference, but never enough to completely and instantly turn off a machine. Maybe you've got a laptop killer phone, walk around Starbucks and have some fun ;)

On a more serious note - is this only with one phone? Tri-band? Cordless home phone? I'd like to do some poking around for you.

Funny you should say that, as I thought about that very thing ;) :D

It's only my Nextel i760 cell phone. My wife's i830 and older i730 does not do it, nor does my phone turn her T42 off
