I bought a Thinkpad Z61T without a battery and upgraded the old CPU with a T7200 but it doesn't run at full speed, always at it's lowest and with 100% load on cores even with opera and a few tabs.

    What's going on? Defect MB?

check your power settings (for vista or windows 7) and make sure the maximum CPU speed is set to 100%. also, i think unless you're using a 90W power adapter, it'll limit the speed of the processor because you don't have a battery in it.

Huh that's interesting, I'll test my work Z61t and my spare Z61t without a battery (both have T7200) and I'll report back.

without the battery and on 65 watt adapter, this behaviour is quite normal.

    Guess I'll trade my 65W charger for a 90W.
    Thank you for the replies.
