Hi again,
as I continue reading reviews, I came across some forums, where people complain about the display quality of the z61m.
Complain quotes:
The display is too dark.
Uneven light distribution.
Vertical and horizontal viewinig angels are very small.
Too slow, even for watching DVDs.
Signal at VGA-out is really bad, even for 1024x768 TFTs.
What do you think about your display? Is something of this true?

The review unit I had was clear and bright.

I just noticed this thread after posting a question related to thinkpad displays, specifically the IPS technology. I actually returned my z61m because I thought the color reproduction was quite bad; I'm probably much more picky about displays than most however......otherwise, the machine is built like a tank, and runs extremely well.

my display is evenly lit... great!
vertical viewing angle is some kind of worst but acceptable. why would you llok down on your laptop, you're not spiderman aren't you? -
My screen also bright and sharp. But i never see IPS though.

I have only owned Dell inspirons before my Z61m. I have the wsxga+ screen and I'm very happy with it. Very little leakage on the bottom, great resolution and all images displayed have been pleasing to my eye.
I run MRI imaging software on mine, watch video lectures and dvd's. All is well with my screen. -
I also have the WSXGA+ screen on my z61m. I find it bright enough when plugged in, but for some reason the max brightness setting is darker when on battery and I don't think it's bright enough.
Haven't really played with viewing angles, but the colour reproduction looks fine to me. Also, I don't find it too slow, I can watch movies just fine. Haven't used the VGA out so I can't offer insight there. -
Thanks so far for all your help!
Next please.....
