A friend of mine has a Z61t that he's giving me as a fixer-upper project, and I'm seeing if it's worth putting in some money to fix up. The LCD is intact, and the board is good, but there is some cosmetic damage to the palmrest and casing. There's no RAM, HDD, battery, charger, or keyboard. The processor is a Core Duo, I think, and it has GMA 950 graphics.

So, fellow ThinkPadders, is this old rig worth fixing up? Could it possibly be sold?

if it has the titanium lid, i would definitely say yes to both questions. otherwise, those parts can add up a bit (estimate ~$90 by ebay prices).

Well you can get a working Z61t for 200 or below on eBay. I bought both of mine for 250 total, both are in tip top shape with T7200. Palmrest + casing is going to be like 60+ dollars, on top of ALL the other stuff you need. Or you can sell me yours. ;)

i think the Z61t is probably one of the most shapely ThinkPad in the recent years, it has all the curves in the right places.
