So I got my Z61t early January. Recently, the "m" key suddenly is hard to push. Pretty much all keys press down with the same pressure, but the "m" key, and the "m" key along required about twice as much strength to press. Is there an easy way to try to pop the key off and take a look? Is that worth it? I got the depot level service (4 year), but am obviously within the 1 year warranty. I don't want to be without a laptop for at least a week to get the "m" key fixed. What can I do?

The keys pop off pretty easily. You can just pull it off and see if something is obstructing the "button". Just be careful...told pull too hard and break the key. Good luck.

What's the best way to "pop" off the key? Hold the adjacent key down and pop with a screwdriver? Maybe put some electrical tape on the tip to protect the keys.

no, just use your nails. if you have to use a screwdriver, you're pushing too hard.

The keyboard is a CRU - that is, Customer Replaceable Unit. If you can't fix the problem you're having (sounds like something might be stuck beneath the key to me), call up tech support and tell them your problem and they'll ship a new keyboard out to you within a couple days for you to install yourself. No waiting while your laptop is stuck in a repair depot.

As far as removing keys goes, try to push the key backwards (towards the palmrest) before pulling up. This gets the "scissors" that support the key out from the tabs that hold it in place. Putting them back is basically the same process in reverse.
