I have a 5 year old Z61t that has bluetooth. I'm looking to order a new X120e. Can I take out the old bluetooth card and put it in the X120e? I don't want to start taking apart the old laptop unless it seems promising that it will work. I can open up the machine and pull out a part number if it seems like it should work.

    Thanks.

The BT card that you have on your old z61t is probably a 1.1 or 2.0 version so don't be cheap. The bluetooth upgrade from x120e is a 3.0 version and $20 so that is an upgrade and less hassle.

the bluetooth card is simply a USB device.   while i've not yet tried it myself, there's a good chance it will work.

i've swapped fingerprint readers of different generations and have always been successful.   FPRs use the same USB channels as BT cards.

try it.   let us know what you discover.

The card included in my x120e order is only displaying as a 2.1 device. A few others have also stated this and I know none who've indicated receiving a bluetooth 3.0 device.

This may be a driver issue on Lenovo's part and we must wait for a software update or false advertising in conflict with the received hardware.
