a few questions about 14" T61 (non-WS)

I am seriously thinking of the 14" T61. Originally I was going to go
with the wide screen, but I think for 14" it might be too small, and
that the standard format might be better. (Not a big multi-media
user).


* Does the 6 cell battery sit flush with the standard (non-WS) 14" T61?
* No webcam on the non-WS 14" T61 right? (why?)
* Is the finger print reader working well enough to be worth the extra $?
* just for kicks, will my T23 floppy work in tht T61?

The fingerprint reader is just a gimmick to me. I personally wouldn't pay extra for it.

I doubt it.

 

thanks for the post .. after having read a bit more I think I agree with you regarding the fingerprint reader.

Now that I think I know what configuration I want the challenge will be to find the best deal.

 

ThinkPads are going the way of Dell and HPs meaning there will be some coupons if you wait around a bit.

I'm a big word processing/excel guy and find the 14.1 WS to be ample for my needs....although a standard 4:3 might spoil me in the office.

I have the fingerprint reader and I only use it for logging into windows.......I dont use it for other apps.......just another thing that boggs the system down.....If I had the chance to do it all over again, i would still get it though!

The camera is only on the 14.1 WS models to my understanding.

I took the plunge and ordered the non-WS 14" T61 last night. Not being able to see a WS T61 in person (and some of the concerns I had with the WS format on a smaller screen) made me decide to essentially pick a system with nearly the same form factor as the T23 I am typing on right now.

I decided to do w/o the finger print reader -- lean and mean as much as possible.

Thanks for confirming about the camera .. that's really too bad, but I've managed without one before

 

Congratulations on the purchase, I just loaded up on the bells and whistles just because there was a memorial day sale and I got the FP reader and the cam for an extra 20-30 bucks.

I used the webcam once over MSN and I did use it a few times for a face recognition software....but that was months ago.
