I'm about to make resecue and recovery cd provided by ThinkVantage. One question: will the files I stored in my computer be included in the resulted cd's? In other words, let's say I have different files stored today than tomorrow. If I burn the recovery cd today, and if I burn them tomorrow, will the result be different as far as my own personal files are concerned (I understand it makes no difference in rescuing the system).

No they won't. Recovery discs put the system back to how it showed up from the factory. ALL YOUR FILES WILL BE WIPED.
Here's the smart thing to do with any new computer. Once you get to the desktop on the first turn-on, install a good third-party backup program and do a full system backup to an external hard drive. I use Acronis, there are probably others. Burn the recovery boot disk appropriate for your backup software. Now you have an image of your fresh system you can go to if you need to do so.
Next, create the recovery discs. 1 CD and 2 DVD's. If you like, duplicate these discs so you have a 2nd set stashed somewhere just in case.
Secondary benefit of this: apparently on current systems you get ONE shot at burning the recovery disks. So this if way something blows up you can reload the backup image you did and try again. Or down the road you can load this image on an extra hard drive and use it to burn a set of recovery disks again.
Now install your programs, do all the various updates of drivers and software. Do another backup. This is your core system image; use that if you ever need to reinstall since it already has all your programs aboard. It kind of duplicates the previous backup image but hard disk space is cheap so it's worthwhile.
Finally load your files and all that stuff and start a good backup regimen. Maybe do a full backup once a month and weekly incremental's or whatever suits your needs/style. If it's a work computer than daily backups may be called for. -
Thanks for your reply! Another question: are those original recovery cd's copyable? i.e. If someone has the original cd's, can I copy them to my cd's or dvd's so I won't need to burn them myself? (if the cd's are for the same model)

Ok, so Lenovos recovery disc copy all windows and lenovos hidden partitions.
What do you think of doing hmmm full backup with files by Lenovo app ?
What are your experiences with it ? Is it useful or rather go with 3rd party program.
Thanks
