It happens with all laptops not just ThinkPads; the screen will be brighter on AC than on battery.

I have yet to find a fix.

Mine is like that too. On battery, even at the highest brightness settings the screen is dim. At first I thought something was wrong but when I plugged in AC it was bright again.

I think that is normal and intended to save battery. Perhaps there is a setting somewhere to change it, but I don't know.

There's a BIOS setting to turn on full brightness on LCD. Not sure if that is the solution but worth a shot.

Try going to the "ThinkVantage" program group in the windows start menu (assuming that you're using windows). Choose ThinkPad Configuration. Then "LCD", then change "brightness when running on batteries" to "high".

You can make the same change in the BIOS.

    I can't find "LCD" option.
