    hey folks
    I just ordered my x201.
i was wondering if there is any way I can replace the stock hdd w my ssd and run win 7 license that came with the laptop?
I noticed that the ABR beta for win 7 came out; does that work?
    ANy alternative methods for this?

Choose the version matched with your licensed version. Download, burn the iso to a DVD and use it for a fresh installation. When prompted, use the key you get (on the sticky of bottom laptop) to activate it.

Windows 7 was released to manufactures on Aug 6th 2009 and to retail channels on Oct 22th. Forget about beta/RC version.

I have had many reports of the ABR beta working with Win7, and only a few where it didn't, so I think you're chances are good.

This might be a stupid question.... Can you install the fresh Win7 on a different hard drive and use the other as a backup? Assuming you transfer the code back on forth between the hard drives?

Yes, as long as you only ever have 1 of them running Windows at a time. If it's just sitting there as a backup, it's no big deal.

Anybody done a clean win 7 install and noted any significant changes between a clean install and using Lenovo's EE + utilities?
