    hi,
I intend to buy a ThinkPad T60 or R60;I am still dubious about which exactely-R60 is much cheaper;and I have heard that they share many components-like keybord;roll-cage..etc)I know that the T60 is lighter and with magnesium case(and some other things like IPS Display option and e.t.c .BUT-are there also differences in the used hardware within-the motherboard;theHDD drives,The opticak drive,The Display Matrix manufcterer...
dos anybody have an idea how can i find out,for example, what is the make and the model of the optical drives in the R60 and T60?

Lenovo, like all manufacturers, use different suppliers for the same part to ensure there's no bottlenecks in building a system (although this doesn't seem to help them with delays in shipping anyway) but there's no precise telling which keyboard manufacturer / optical drive / hard drive you'll get other than the fact it'll meet the specs they tell you. Do remember that with the T60 you get an Ultrabay Slim optical drive and with the R60 it's a thicker regular Ultrabay drive -- the slim is obviously skinnier, lighter and more expensive. The R60 also has more plastic housing than the T60 and is heavier, outside of that it's a great budget option that's close to the T60.

thank you for the quick reply..
i didn't know that I can buy the same model ,T60 for example, with the same hardware configuration and have different hard drives(1 with Fujitsu and the other with Seagate, for Example)
so,can you tell thet in the t60 they will use more expensive and durable components than in R60?Or they pretty much use the same.(Im not talking about slimmer and lighter,I know that it,s obvious that T60,as lighter would be made of more lighter and slimmer parts.I talk about durability.

for example ,I usually burn a lot of DVD-s and will apreciate if the burner will last long time without having to replace it or use external one.
If I knew that the R60 comes usually with more durabre Optical and Hard Drives, the chance of Motherboard faillure is smaller...etc-I will probably spend some extra money for it... Do the T-s show less damages over the years compared to the R-s,what does the revies and reports say?

I would think R line is also a bit as test notebooks for new things, and T is for the mature technologies. But this is just my idea, besides Lenovo also has non thinkpad line for the "test" purpose.
The same is with Dell Latitude and Inspiration lines.

You cannot upgrade the graphics. You are stuck with what you ordered. My advice if graphics is that important to you either order the graphics choice that you can afford of get an Advance Docking station and install a regular PCI graphics card.
