So I finally decided to get a T400, but I am still on the fence with WXGA (1280 x 1024) vs WXGA+ LED (1440 x 900). If both were LED I would definitely get the WXGA, because I have seen WXGA on a 13.3" screen and it was borderline too small for what I would want. I know that:

    13.3" WXGA ~ 113 ppi
    14.4" WXGA ~ 107 ppi
    14.4" WXGA+ ~ 120 ppi

So that makes me very hesitant to get the 1440 resolution. But everyone on here seems to be getting the LED and is saying how great it is, so it's hard to go with the crappier quality screen with the resolution I prefer. For those who have seen both, would you say the better contrast on the LED screen makes it as easy to read as the larger resolution WXGA screen?

I'm probably over thinking this decision but I just don't want to get stuck with too high a resolution since I will be using this pretty much only for document and internet stuff, and I'm not really concerned with how photos or games will look. Any thoughts or suggestions would be really appreciated.

    umm.. there's no 13.3 inches.

    Display
    WXGA (1280x800, 98dpi, 185+ nit)
    WXGA+ (1440x900, 129dpi, 200+ nit)
    WXGA+ W/LED backlight (1680x1050, 129dpi, 200+ nit)

If money doesn't really matter (it's only like $54 CAN), I would totally pick the 14.4" WXGA+ W/LED Backlit. Just the whole LED screen is an awesome thing. With resolution, you might be able to just lower the resolution without using the max res. (can someone confirm this for me)? Sorry if you're looking for an opinion from an actual t400 owner =(.

I wouldn't want to miss out on a newer LCD tech. (aka LED backlit), also uses less energy and i don't think i ever read someone not preferring LED backlit (i could be wrong)... what more can you ask for? lol

AznRacerNSX, you make good points. The better battery life is another advantage for the LED. I just wish I could find one to look at first. Oh, and I just meant I looked at a 13.3" inch laptop (not a lenovo) to get an idea for how the smaller fonts, etc, would look.

I also have not heard of anyone regretting getting the LED screen... ahh decisions decisions.

This is like the 5300 wireless card. It's a no brainer. On top of all the benefits posted previously, it also will stay brighter longer. CCFL suffers from many issues (compared to LED) including a much shorter half-life which is further shortened by colder temperatures and the turning on and off of the LCD.

That's a typo on Lenovo's part. The T400 LED WXGA+ screen is 1440x900 as with any other WXGA+ screen.

And text display size is easily changeable in Windows and in browsers that this is a non-question. To paraphrase Kevin who did the T400 review; for the love of all that is holy, GET THE LED SCREEN.

If I'd ordered mine without the LED screen and later saw one I'd be kicking myself. It's very nice.
