really want a t61p but the internal svideo is very important to me, the r61 has svideo through the nvs 140m card, and from what ive seen in the hardware manuals, it has the same motherboard layout as the t61, so theorectically u should be able to solder the pins on the nvs 140m and 540m on the t61 to a svideo out cable and drill a mount in the side of the laptop for the svideo reciever, u would juss need to know what pins/connections to solder from an existing r61 laptop, anyone up to the challenge to opening they're r61 to find out (I am electical engineer so no worries with soldering!)

assuming that the svideo out connector is a cable running to the video card and not soldered to the motherboard on the r61

They don't use a Ribbon to add the S-video. It's SM part on the board itself. The reason why they didn't go with the S-video ports is 1 it's a relatively tall port. 2 the VGA is better for presentations and is a good compromise between S-video and DVI.

I'd really doubt that Lenovo would leave the pin outs for an S-video port. You might be able to wire up the port directly to the chip.

It's not worth it. Just get the $20 adapter from VGA to S-video.
