    Hi,

Where we are almost on 2013 :p, i'm looking for a used good quality lenovo, and i've found that the X200 is selling for a great price.

If i'm not wrong it is possible to upgrade the RAM to 8GB.

    So my question is:

Is this the lenovo to get on a price range max of 300 euros (+- 350 dollars) a good buy, or do you recomend another one?

If possible i'd like to have a biometric sensor, 8GB of RAM and max size 14.

    Thank you

X200 should support 8 GB DDR3 RAM. 300 Euro price would depend on the spec, if it is WXGA+, the processor, condition, etc.

If you are open to display sizes, you can find nice T400 notebooks at killer deals as well.

Hi, thank you for the fast answers.

I will check to see if the X200 screen is WXGA+.

 the T400 is amazing for this price range, thanks for pointing that out, i will also check the T400.

Only X200s was offered with a WXGA+, not X200, and the "s" version with the 1440x900 panel will likely command a hefty premium even today.

I think the X200 should be priced closer to 200 dollars even for a mint condition machine.

That really depends a lot on OP's location...which, apart from the continent, remains unknown...

Hum, i'm looking on UK, and can only find X200 for about 199 pounds.

Yes 1024x768 is a bit limited, maybe i'm going to the T400 it is in the same price range and i've found 2 or 3 with a WXGA+ resolution and ATI chipset

I own both types of ThinkPads- X200 and T400. I primarily leave the T400 docked at my apartment and primarily use it for schoolwork and web browsing. While I do have games for it I just have not had time to play them at all :/

The X200 is relatively light in weight while the T400, not surprisingly, is noticeably heavier in comparison to the X200. AFAIK the X200 was never offered with an WXGA+ LCD or LED- the X200s to my recollection. The difference between the X200s and X200 is probably the thickness and weight. The X200s being lighter than the X200. I will add that I am an average sized woman and carrying the T400 is not a back breaking activity for me. It is manageable but the X200 fits in extremely well among the hodgepodge of items in my backpack.

Whenever I take the T400 to the campus and use battery power with Intel Graphics running the T400 will last ~2 hours with light web-browsing and MSWord in which case I have to have the AC adapter with me! The X200 on the other hand will last ~4hrs performing the same tasks and will actually make it through my day on occasion without a charge. Keep in mind however that tailored power settings, a fresh battery, and current usage (e.g. playing videos, browsing web sites with many flash elements) will also affect run time considerably. My X200 battery could use a replacement within the coming year. I love it and it has served me well so far!

You did not indicate what you would primarily be using the ThinkPad for so I cannot guess which would be more appropriate for you. I dislike the term "better" as I do not know what such a subjective word means to you, Harry, Dom, George, or Jane :D

If you must have a larger screen and do not mind the increased weight and less run time on battery then the T400 might work out well for you. I should also add the X200 can be used to output to a larger screen if you need a more expansive room for your work space.

    Good luck!

Great description, yes you are right i've forgot to tell what i the need the laptop for.

I'm a sysadmin, and need to have with me always a laptop, so your description about the X200 fits like a glove, but on the other side in my little spare time i'd like to program, and maybe the X200 resolution is a bit small for a lot of open windows.

Damit  now I think that I need the X200 because is everything i need when on the move (with a new battery), but miss the WXGA+

Small question: any advice besides ebay where can I find lenovo X200 or T400 on europe?

Yes the T400 has served me well so far also. Getting the switchable graphics to work in W8 was a bit tricky but it is doable. I would flat-out refuse a T400 with a regular WXGA screen. Personal preference but the T400 I have has the WXGA+ screen and it works out fine for me. Sounds like the T400 would work fine for you. As for where to buy in Europe I am not sure as I am in the U.S. You might post a WTB (want to buy) thread here on Notebook Reviews and also at thinkpads.com. Good luck :)
