i am thinking of upgrading the 2gb RAM in my x201 to 4gb. it already has a 2gb stick in it. i am thinking that i would need to buy one that is pc3-8500 ddr3-1066? would this one work with the existing 2gb in dual channel?

The X201 takes DDR3-1066 (PC3-8500) as the minimum. The Crucial module you chosen should work fine with your system in dual channel configuration.
