i've been long time fan of thinkpads since i got the x31 about 5 years ago, and i recently purchased a t500.

it came with windows 7, and like many people i prefer to do a clean install of the os immediately to get rid of the garbage.

the problem is, lenovo wants 45$ from me if i want the original disk... but will send it for free if something "goes wrong" with my laptop.

anybody know what specifically is meant or included in "going wrong", or some other way i can get the os disk?

An example of something going wrong would be you try to make the recovery discs and it fails. The discs Lenovo want to charge you for are recovery discs, they are not a Windows discs, but will restore your machine to its factory state. If you want to do a clean install you'll need a Windows disc.
