I have a N500 Lenovo notebook.
a few days ago a have decided to use a bios password.
when i start the pc and type the password i hear this annoying beep each time i type a character, after the half of the password. i don`t hear this sound when i type on restart, it only happens what i turn on my laptop.
Please give me a clue if you know something about it!
Thanks

The computer beeps when you type in invalid input. It's registered as a system error. Most likely there are processes loading in the background. Try waiting for a while before typing in your BIOS password. It shouldn't beep anymore.

hello,
thank you for trying to help me. i tried waiting a while and i still hear this sound.
the curious thing is that it happens only after i type 7 characters from the password (it contains 12). now i remember reading somewhere, that is recommended for the bios password to have a maximum number of characters.
do you think it could be connected to this issue?
Thanks -
Yeah, it's probably beeping because after 7 characters the password is truncated, therefore any input after 7 is invalid. Try typing in just the first 7 characters of your password and hit enter and see if that logs you in.

thanks a lot. it works.
meanwhile, i have found the information about the lenght of the password. it must be composed by 8 characters maximum.
now do you think is indicated to change it in a smaller one, or i can work fine just typing it's 8 first letters??
thank you
annoying sound
