any idea when the deal for lenovo ideapad y580 will be back on costco?
i think the deals on amazon, newegg etc are a bit overpriced.

P.S. :- i am avoiding ordering from lenovo coz i want it before 22nd nov.

so the price for 20994LU is 979$ after using barnes and noble.
while just for addtional 20$ they are giving blu ray.(again using barnes and noble)
    that makes 20994LU overpriced.
should i wait for next weeks deal, or just forget everythng & order. :-(

There was a great Y580 offer (i7, 8GB, GTX660M, 1080p) in another forum section for $799, unfortunately no longer available. Still, most certainly the more quality deals will come up as the holiday season approaches.

    Will bookmark this thread.

Anyone still looking for the Y580? I have a 1 2 Month old one with all the recovery cd/s 1TB+32GB SSD setup. I don't want to deal with the rapiddrive stuff. I just got a HP instead and would like to sell this. Any decent offers will be accepted. I handle the shipping. I can send pics etc.

best to put it on ebay. protects both parties better.

you only have 1 post here, so people are going to be wary about buying from you.

Here is my situation. I just ordered a y580 from lenovo...I got the model with windows 7 and 32gig ssd for $1025. I am not opening it in case there is a deal on black Friday. I have looked through a bunch of early black Friday deals and haven't seen any deals yet...

Have any of you seen the new y500? It looks very interesting with its "Ultrabay: an interchangeable bay that can be instantly swapped out for dual graphics capability, increased storage space or an additional fan for cooling" I guess if you get another video card it with run SLI, but is it worth the cost? I think with only 1 graphics card it would have lower benchmarks than the y580.

ahh.. the joys of buyers regret...am I crazy and should just get the 580?

as far as graphics card is concerned, y500 has gt650 and y580 has gtx660. both are almost same n terms of performance. I would wait for y500 reviews to come out before making any decision in haste.

How long does it usually take for the reviews to come out? I have y580 at my house and am using my cell phone as my computer, which totally sucks. Just trying to figure out if i got a good deal on it. I totally agree about not making a hasty decision

Though this model was never sold by lenovo, I wonder how come you have'nt seen this one before. The model name is 20994JU if I am not wrong.
This is the same model which costco as well as microsoftstore were selling few weeks back. (The one which microsoftstore sold for as low as 799$ for sometime). Too bad this deal is back so late

REALLY $799! Holly sh#t. Now I have to pay 900 for the same machine...still better than $1025 from lenovo (the two differences being the newer chip and 250gb of hd). Will getting an extended warrantee be any different than if I purchased it from lenovo.

    dont forget, 900 + taxes
and as per this link : Black Friday: Lenovo IdeaPad Y580 GTX 660M FullHD
lenovo will also have a black friday deal by selling at 900$ from 22nd Nov, with slight differences in the model (a faster 3630 processor, 1 TB HDD, No SSD). Assuming you get Barnes & Noble Discount, your price may come down to around 869$+Taxes if I am correct.
But then, Costco's 90 day return policy is a charm.
And the last time this deal was on Costco, they sold out days before the offer end date.

This is nice 1036.97 for y580 with 2 years warranty + accidental damage. For when you " accidentaly " drop you laptop in to a puddle while walking to school. When there's only 3 months left in your warranty

It's basically one of the normal Lenovo models, just "custom made" for a 3rd party retailer.

Well, been looking on here for a while, and finally pulled the trigger on the Costco deal today. Ya, ended up just over $1,000, but it came with a 2 year warranty and 90 day return policy.

I think the one on Costco may actually come with the 1tb HDD; not 750gb...the main info shows 750gb, but everything else shows 1tb. Since there is a 90 day return policy I can return later if something better comes up. Also, this one still has the 32gb msata drive cache...think the new ones only have 16gb or none, so from that standpoint it was a good deal.

I do have a question...am I better with Windows 7 and upgrading? Per costco, for $15 I can upgrade to Windows 8 Pro...if I don't like it I can just restore back to Windows 7. With the new laptops, they all come with Windows 8 (64).

    Thoughts?

The specs on costco's website were messed up last time also. But the actual model shipped had 750GB + 32 GB SSD.
For windows 8, you would've enjoyed better if your laptop had a touchscreen. But its your call.

You guys should take a look at Lenovo's site as well. The Y480 is freaking half off with the 3630 also.
Final total shipped is $789.14. I can't argue with that. Good bye 4830TG.....

Hey everyone, new forum user here, just signed up to join in the conversation.

I ordered the Y580 on the 22nd direct from Lenovo's site. I got the model with the 1920x1080 FHD screen and 1 TB storage space, on sale for $899 + tax, and free 2-3 day expedited shipping. It was such a good deal I couldn't pass it up. And I'm extremely excited about it, as I have wanted a computer for as long as I can remember haha

However, I'm a little bit worried about the reliability of Lenovo's shipping times... I have looked around quite a bit for the past month about Lenovo and other deals on the Y580, and I have read many reviews that flat out say that Lenovo's shipping is terrible, as your order can be pushed back several times and you might not get the computer for up to a month or more after you order. I am hoping that that isn't the case for me... I am checking my email every few hours in hopes of email confirmation that my laptop has shipped and is en route to me. I'm not trying to get the computer the day before the world is supposed to end

Anyways, that deal is still on until tomorrow I believe, and so far I think it is the best deal that I have seen. I encourage anyone to jump on it while it is still available, and I will keep in touch here about how the shipping process is going :)

EDIT: Grand total for everything after tax was $968.67, and that is WITH the free 2-3 day expedited shipping. Just thought I would share.
And does anyone know about the upgradeable 16 GB RAM for the Y580? Lenovo shows max is 8 GB, but I saw on another website, forget the name (I am just getting into the computer world), that deals in selling RAM from industry producers that said new technology etc etc allows for the Y580 to be upgraded to 16 GB RAM, and that sometimes the manufacturers of the computers don't update the information on their websites, so that is why Lenovo still says max is 8 GB. Can anyone confirm this? And would it be worth my time/money in upgrading to 16 GB RAM if it is possible?

Thanks again and hello to everyone.

Depends on what are your your requirements. If you intend to use the laptop for moderate gaming, videos, internet etc, 8 GB is enough.
