Before I start troubleshooting this problem, I thought I'd see if anyone else is having any problems with the Ultra dock (or any of the other new docks). Here's the issue: every 30 minutes or so the display of my external monitor will start to rapidly wobble/shimmer all over every couple of seconds, then disappear for about 2-3 seconds before returning as if nothing happened. It's almost like the signal from the dock (DVI) gets corrupted then briefly dies. I wondered if perhaps this is related to the dodgy Lenovo power supplies folks have been talking about (I'm running the dock on the 135W supply), although the computer does not signal it's ever on battery power. Meanwhile I'm going to try a new DVI cable, a different power supply and a different grounded outlet to rule out those factors, and also see whether the monitor itself has a bad board.

Mine just did the exact same thing for the first time, except I am using the 90W adapter that supposedly doesn't have any power problems. T440P with Intel graphics, latest drivers, Bios, etc., monitor is a Dell U2412M.

There is a firmware update for the dock here: http://support.lenovo.com/en_CA/product-and-parts/detail.page?&DocID=PD027981 that I applied to my dock at home, where I seemingly did not have any problems, but I have not updated this one at work. I will apply that then see how things go......

I have the same problem and worse, when resuming from sleep it will often fail to bring up one or both of my monitors and I have to manually unplug their power cords to revive them. Worked fine with my old Thinkpad and dock.

    Trying the firmware update now...

I think that issue is related to graphics drivers rather than the dock.

In any case, I noticed this thread: T540p/T440p+UltraDock+external display issues - Page 17 - Lenovo Community on the Lenovo forums after my previous post, and it seems like the firmware update does indeed fix the monitor signal loss problem......

I have the same problem. Although it doesn't happen that often, usually once a day. I have a T540 - i7 - discreet with the Ultra dock 170W. Basically wobbles/gets fuzzy and resets then is fine.

Do the firmware update for the dock. After the fuzzies happened to me twice this morning before updating, it hasn't happened in the last 3.5 hours after.

Glad to know I'm not alone and it's not my monitor! Just applied the firmware update, so hopefully that'll fix it.

I don't think so - I've made sure to have the latest graphics driver since the very beginning and have even rolled back.

So far this firmware update seems to have fixed the issue.

Very! This has been a huge irritation - I've been unplugging my monitors literally 5-10 times a day.

Hmmmm, the corruption issue is definitely gone, but I am still having problems when resuming from sleep - particularly when resuming immediately after docking. A sleep-rewake normally fixes it. I wonder if the dock just needs to wake up itself?

Yeah, I too still had to manually unplug one monitor when resuming from sleep this morning. Overall much better than it was, but it still isn't 100% fixed.

    DVI or Displayport?

There isn't much info, but from what I can gather it seems like the part is a hub, which passes-through displayport, and converts to DVI/VGA. I wonder if DP would meet better success......

I'm currently using both of the DisplayPort connectors - but I've tried in the past and had the same results using DVI.
