Something is wrong then. Though I don't currently use it, I did have it installed and running fine for a few days on a T510 with W7x64.

I'm not aware of any others that will run well on 64bit and/or on a Thinkpad. You can try Speedfan, but I couldn't get the fan speed functions to work for me.

Speedfan should do it, but be careful, I found its GUI awkward

TPFan control is the best and works 99.9% of the time :)

Make sure to go to the actual tpfan control homepage to get the latest download:

When downloaded, it should be a zip file with just setup.exe within it. That should do an install with any needed drivers supplied I would think. If you just had files without an install process, I would try a new download.

Note: Thanks for MastahRiz, I just realized the sourceforge link I posted has an older version. Download from: http://www.staff.uni-marburg.de/~schmitzr/donate.html.

I run tpfancontrol on my T510 with 64 bit Windows 7 with no problems.... it only displays cpu temp, no other temps, but other then that it seems to work fine.

If you need to use tpfancontrol then there is probably a problem somewhere that should be dealt with.
