I can't stand this guy and there shall be no saving face for the lenovo exes who hired this do$&#*bag.
This will certainly cause me to have second thoughts...and closer looks a the competition...when contemplating my next laptop purchase. Certainly not rational...but neither is marketing.
Its one thing to trash the brand by breaking up the product lines and producing consumer grade junk....but this is just insulting.
Seriously...I've been to China twice and never seen this dip#$d on CCTV...although I sure bet Shenzhen is full of pirated fruit Jobs DVDs.
Fire the execs!

There is obviously enough people to like him for Lenovo to use him as a product spokesman. Personally, i wouldn't have used him for product spokesman, since he doesn't really know what he is talking about (there were lot of gaffs in the speech he made). But i don't own Lenovo and don't have a say. As Steve Jobs said market will sort everything out, if they don't like what Lenovo produces no one buy them, if they do then it will sell by the ship loads.
P.S. He is no Steve Jobs that is for sure. -
PS: I should probably watch some interviews with him, it may change my mind, but I don't really care about this stuff -
But I am confused as to why you are '"insulted"? Do you have stock in the company, and is he actually selling real Thinkpads (T,X,W). And what has he done (good or bad) to make him a d-bag or a dip#$d )? Such strong emotions over......a random "celebrity" over a company that none of us work for and most have no stock in? -
Am I the only one here who doesn't know who Ashton Kutcher is?
Tirilwen likes this. -
The real problem with the event is that they had Kutcher hyping a crappy tablet design like it is the next big thing ... sliced bread. The tablet is a POS and Kutcher's uninformed exuberance just highlights the degree to which Lenovo is trying to push garbage by hiring a snake oil salesman. Lenovo should have been announcing an 8" Bay Trail Thinkpad tablet w/ Wacom pen that might have been worth an such event on its roll-out. I could have even listened to Kutcher for a few minutes.
-
An actor who envisioned himself as the next Steve Jobs (did he just played Jobs recently)?
added: Actually he seems to be one of the few entertainers who are interested in technology -
He is not a dbag, unless you are a Demi Moore fan. He is also no snake oil salesman, he just doesn't have the sort of persuasion power to pull that off. He is just A person whom can't remember where he's car is.
Anyway, Yoga tablet is interesting but it is not my thing. Don't like android. Either Win Tablet or iOS for me.ibmthink likes this. -
At least it's not neo... However you spell his real name.
-
I personally think he's a nice person from everything I've seen and heard about him.

Love him or hate him, Kutcher commands a huge following that is a marketer's dream. He is also actively involved in the tech. industry -- he co-founded the tech venture fund A-Grade Investments and through them has invested in a lot of tech startups. He also co-founded the digital content company Katalyst. So compared to most celebrities he actually knows a bit about tech, though probably not as much as his publicists would like you to think.
For the record, I respect him but find him intensely annoying -
A d-bag doesn't found international human rights organizations to combat child pornography & sexual exploitation.
A 35 year old actor, director, model, philanthropist, tech investor, social media icon (also the first on Twitter to have a million followers) = a very good decision on Lenovo's part, marketing wise. Also, knowing that he's creative and loves tech makes me optimistic about his influences on new products, if he actually does play a role in that.
I read up on him on Wikipedia just now and it's actually kind of refreshing to read about a celebrity who ISN'T a mess and in and out of trouble, stupid things, etc. Maybe it's because I'm 34 and actually have a sense of humor, but I think he's got a good personality and is likable. It kind of makes me mad to see people tearing others down without giving them a chance to prove themselves.

With celebrities the less you know about their personal life the better.
Also I have been tracking the Facebook comments on Lenovo pages. Prior to the launch event lot of Ashton Kutcher haters come to denounce him, after the event lot of millennial customers telling Lenovo they like Yoga tablet. The marketing obviously worked, there is a shift in customer perception in the age group that Lenovo marketing is targeting.
Also lot of people hate Ashton Kutcher because even though he doesn't have a college degree or appear that fantastically smart, he is still living a life that most people can only wish. So some hate comes from envy. -
Lol, kind of weird that he plays Steve Jobs in the movie and now he's a spokesman for Lenovo.

The people that hire him are the ones with the problem...it's like buying a Grizzly Bear and wondering why the heck it ate your dog. He brings a certain brand of annoying and ignorant enthusiasm, but that's his shtick. They hired that him. No need for the Kutcher hate. And as several other users have pointed out, he's not as bad as you make him out to be...you obviously don't even know the guy. -
If you were given a lot of money to be a spokesman for lenovo I think youd take it. A lot of people love his movies and think hes a great person. Just because he will always be Michael Kelso doesnt mean he actually is that stupid.
