I now love my t61 more than ever. I have only had it for two days and I have already got a BAD bug (damn you piratebay  ) that tore up my system. Lucky the auto back up saved the day! 20 minutes to do a system restore to yesterdays backup and I got rid of the bug and I lost almost zero files. (just some stuff I grabbed today that I can grab again)

I will put up with the performance hit for the peace of mind. Thanks again lenovo :D

(this is the first virus I have gotten in my 15 years of being a geek) I guess I got sloppy. wont happen again.) ;)

download AVG antivirus. before you open anything you DL'd from bittorrent, just right click the file and scan with AVG.

Or better yet, download Ubuntu 7.04:

    http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download

And enjoy a whole new world of productivity and fun - all for free (free also from viruses and trojans...). Works like a charm on ThinkPads.

I tried to install 7.04 from the LiveCD on my T61 and it did not work at all. Couldn't get passed the option menu. :(

I do have avg, forgot to scan that single file. Now I'm looking for a full time(resident shield) FREE virus scanner. avg antispyware lets you try their real time protection for one month, so I have some time to look around.

I do duel boot to Ubuntu on my desk top and will install it on my t61 when Gutsy is finished, after reading about the work it takes to get everything going on http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Category:T61 , I can wait a month or two..
