I just found the prices for 4:3 screens on the site that someone linked earlier have suddenly soared to several hundreds more! Probably as a result of our broadcasting our needs for 4:3! They are apparently much higher than most of the wide screens![]()

Yep, the demise of the standard size screen is upon us. That's why I took the liberty of ordering a fully loaded 4:3 T60p Flexview a few days ago since it will likely be the last of its kind available. Too much is unknown about the T61p and whether it will be available in 4:3 or not, so I seized the opportunity.

Just checked: T61 14" 4:3 starting from $1,594 - not bad!
Well, that link looks phishy anyway -
Not that I am complaining about the 4:3 screen T60p I ordered. But after several years of having gotten used to a wide screen format, it's kind of hard to suddenly switch back to the 4:3 screen format...
And I do wish the flexview could be a tad brighter. -
ibmfan, are you telling Lenovo lurkers on this forum that more price increase is ok?
It was $1274/1299 before, now it's $1594/1619

Until I get the official release in Lenovo's main website, I would careless.

What was the res on your old w/s ? What's the res on your T60? Is that what's difficult to adjust to? -
Man, you sure know how to drive a hard bargan...I paid almost $3k for mine. And yes, it does come with a 3 year depot warranty, but for whatever reason it still hasn't shown up on the warranty info page yet.
My old DV9000t is an ordinary WXGA glossy. But it's a 17inch though. I guess I have gotten used to the bigger text and the wide screen format. It will take me a while to get used to the smaller text on the 15inch SXGA+ flexview. And yes, I definitely do notice the flexview is a tad dimmer than the glossy 17inch.
And the flexview sometimes display light blue as light shades of purple. I have read this is normal. Can anyone confirm this? -
hmm the IPS thinkpads i've used at work had white whites... at least i've never noticed any purple (eg., white work processing background).
about the small text fonts, have you changed the DPI and fontsize in the Display properties? (i know the T43 in 14" sxga+ shipped preset with larger size, dunno about the 15" sxga+ T60 tho) -
-
I guess it's not white white that's being display as light purple. It's actually white mixed in with some VERY light blue that's being displayed as very light purple.
Take for example this the background color of this forum, it is VERY light blue. The background forum color on the glossy screen certainly looks a bit different than the forum color displayed on the flexview. It takes a bit of time getting used to.
I know I can set the text to 120 DPI. But I just wanted to see how things look in their native resolution -
A couple of people on thinkpads.com mentioned this "purple" thing about their flexview as well.
bad news for us 4:3 lovers
