I'm looking at buying a Z61t--primarily for general office-type work, but with occasional light gaming a possibility--and have two current concerns:

    1. Can you put an extra battery in the Z61t's Ultrabay? I would have thought so, but buying an extra Ultrabay battery is not an option when I configure the 9440 on the Lenovo website.

    2. Can I get international support on the Z61t? I'm buying this and usually reside in the US, but will be spending a lot of time in the UK over the next year and don't want to have to ship my laptop back to the US to get it repaired. Is it right that Lenovo will only provide support in a given country if they sell your particular model there? It looks to me (from the Lenovo UK site) that they only sell the Z61m, which be bad news for me.

    Thanks!

Do you know if I have to purchase any special service option to get the support--or even where I should go to get this information? I spent some time navigating Lenovo's warranty pages on their website, and I left pretty much unenlightened.

It looks from that service like I wouldn't get support for the Z61t (944x series) in the UK, which is where I'd be using it quite a bit. This is probably a deal-killer for me. Thanks for the advice, though.

On you second question. The international warranty is based on the 4 degit machine type not the model number, so if the 4 Degit machine type is sold in the country you can get warranty service in that country. Here is a pull from the Lenovo site: Under IWS, customers may obtain warranty service throughout the machine's warranty period in any country in which the machine (as identified by the four-digit machine type) is sold and serviced.

    Regards,

    Gary

Would you happen to know where I find the "machine type" number for the Z61t 944x, in that case?

    Thanks for the help.
