    HI,
I'm looking for new battery for my x61, all of them on ebay these days, saw some for 30-40$, they probably not original but claimed to use more advanced cells then in originals. Anybody can share experience how good those batteries ?

Original IBM batteries run for >$100.

What cells do they have, can they name the company? For the price they are selling the battery at I wouldn't think so.

i have tried other batteries from ebay, out of the 12 batteries i have tried, about 8 failed within 14 months. But these batteries were given to me for evaluation by one of my friend, personally i wouldn't use them even if they are cheaper.

I guess one can ask the seller regarding the cell manuf, or even the date of manuf. The above links are for genuine lenovo. I have no experience with 3rd party.

I've purchased several batteries on eBay, and I've only ever had one that I know to have failed. As far as the cells themselves are concerned, quite a few of the third party batteries have had SANYO cells, same as Lenovo's.

My advice: purchase from a seller who offers warranty/replacement in your own country. There are quite a few, and while they usually charge a couple bucks more than the HK or China-based sellers, it's worth it to have a faster turnaround if the battery does die.
