Hi, i work in an area with poor wwan reception, i have lenovo x200 with ultraconnect 2x2 antenna and 5300 card

i do not get very good reeptionm i get disconnected and slow connection comparing to a window location. (3G AT&T)

any suggestion that may make noticible difference?

Such as replacing my x200 with x301 with 3x3 antenna , or any other suggestion... any available external antenna I can use

Loose the AT&T. When we switched to Sprint the scales fell from my eyes ... at home. We live in a valley and thus CDMA does a better job getting in here than the 3G signals

I'm somewhat confused with your question. Are you referring to WWAN (3G) or WLAN (802.11) as your problem.

The 2x2/3x3 array only affects the WLAN.

The WWAN card uses separate antennas. I doubt a different computer, or any antenna hack (unless you go for something external) will improve your reception. Your best bet may be to try a different provider (e.g. Verizon/Sprint instead of AT&T) as coverage can be highly variable depending on provider and location.

An AT&T MicroCell is the best solution. Said to be arriving in the second quarter of this year.

    I've been through this.

The poorest antenna is the indoor antenna in your X200. Switch to an outdoor antenna installed by you. Hams (QST magazine) have messed with this a lot. You can find good 2400 mhz antennas on the net. The antennas do make a difference.

When i configured my x200, Lenovo sale agent assured me that the antenna embedded on the side of te the LCD is connected to the WWAN, is that right.

I am not sure what other antena Jonlumpking refered to in the above posting.

Thank you all, but can not switch carrier, locked in in 2 years agreement.
