well.. after a few days of back and forth... and getting a chance to look at a T61 14" from a friend that has one.. i decided the R61 15.4" was a good choice for me.. i used the coupons..etc.. i already ordered 2gb mem from newegg that has a rebate as well.. so this is what i decided on...

    ThinkPad R61

    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T8100 (2.1GHz 800MHz 3MBL2)
    Genuine Windows Vista Home Basic
    15.4" WXGA,BT
    Intel GMA X3100, GM965, 1394, S-Video, PC Card/PCIe
    1 GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz SODIMM Memory (1 DIMM)
    UltraNav (TrackPoint and TouchPad)
80 GB Hard Disk Drive, 5400rpm
DVD Recordable 8x Max Ultrabay Enhanced
    ThinkPad 11a/b/g Wi-Fi wireless LAN Mini-PCIe US/EMEA/LA/ANZ
    Integrated Bluetooth PAN
    6 cell Li-Ion Battery ( 2.4 Ah )
    8932: 1Year Express Warranty

All together with estimated tax was...

    Estimated total: $ 645.86

I think this will be sufficient.. i didnt opt for the higher resolution because i dont think i will need it.. i usually use 1078x768 for laptop i use now here at work.. so 1280x800 will do.. now im on the waiting boat.. cant wait til i get it.. this will be my first thinkpad.. :)

Don't mind the estimated ship date. Mine shipped out in 2 days from the order date. You'll get yours a lot sooner than you think.

I just got my R61 last Friday and I am loving it. I ordered it on March 10 and got it on March 14 - including the one day that UPS had to spend at Lousiville, KY to clear the Custom. I am very happy with this shopping experience. R61 is running very smoothly, quitely (except the DVD) and very cool - Compare to my last Dell, I could barely felt any heat from R61.

if it came earlier that would be awesome..

those of you with R61 .. did it come with SD card reader? i heard it comes with it anyways.. i didnt see anywhere to add that when i was contemplating on which to get.. specs..etc.. if it dont oh well..

now to read up again on reinstalling w/o all the bloatware.

if u had ordered it with media card u would get sd card reader, I picked express card for future expandability, so no sd card reader in my laptop.
