The Fire Snake Notebook Virtuoso
How do you get this error? Are you doing a lot of intense gaming/3D work? While on battery etc? Please provide more info.

I just got the same BSOD today when I "woke up" my T61 from sleep. It's the only BSOD on Vista I've seen so far. I checked my devices afterwards and made sure that they can't be turned off to save power (I thought that might have something to do with it).
I googled the error, but couldn't find anything that seemed too similar to my case. And I thought SP1 was going to go much better. :|
I have not seen the error again today, despite sleeping/waking the laptop several times since.
I did see that in the system event log that my page file (virtual memory) which was 1GB was smaller than my system's physical memory (4 GB). Since then I haven't seen any system log errors.
Maybe it's a fluke. We'll see. -
I'm getting this as well. It started with SP1. In my case the minidump references the at&t vpn driver. I believe the UPEK (fingerprint reader) driver has caused this as well for me. There are a few things that don't like SP1 very much. So I backed off SP1 and I am getting it again now that MS updated their "reliability update" to version 1.1 (ironic that it makes my system less reliable).
-
I don't think it's an SP1 issue. I've been having the same issue without SP1. The system is otherwise fully update to date.
It happens when waking the system from sleep. The screen would remain black for several minutes with the system appearing to be frozen (no response from caps lock or any Fn commands or plugging/unplugging any USB devices). Then the blue screen would appear with Driver_Power_State_Failure 0x0000009F. -
Hi,
I have the same issue that shift described. Does anyone got a solution since then?
Thanks. -
i could assure you its not a hardware problem.seems a driver incompatibility or so.i get that message so rarely but its ok to me.
-
try upgrading all your drivers.

I received a blue screen for the first time yesterday. How can I check if this is the same blue screen that you have experienced? Is there a log within Windows I could check?
-
I had the BSOD 3 times in the last month. All 3 times was when I was watching a video using WMP.

Try disabling DLA. Right click on your optical drive in Computer and switch to the DLA tab to uncheck it.
DLA is just some drag and drop disc burning feature that isn't recommended anyways. DLA made my games BSOD'd. Use software to burn your files on low speed for better results. -
My Y510 began having BSOD crashes which turned out to only occur when the SonicWall Global VPN Client was running. SonicWall has indicated that an update is in the works - but for now I can avoid the BSOD issues by minimizing my use of the VPN tunnel. Not a good situation, but workable for the time being.
FWIW, in my research on this, VPNs were often mentioned in relation to BSOD issues in Vista. It is at the very least something to consider if in fact you do use a VPN client. -
Dohuy,
I have systematically the problem when I put my T61 in sleep mode for the second time.
1- I cold boot
2- I put the computer in sleep mode
3- I wake up the computer
4- I put it in sleep mode.
At step 4, the screen close but the computer stay on the the hard drive is still working. About 10 minutes later, the screen goes on the I have the blue screen with DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE. -
It seems that I found the source of my problem. I need the Cisco VPN Client to connect to my office. The version is 5.0.00.340. I uninstalled it and my computer stopped to display blue screen when I put it in sleep mode for the second time. I tried it many times and I no long got blue screen (BSOD). Maybe it's a combination of thinks, I don't know.
I'am gonna get in touch with the support guy to get another version of VPN Client. -
my studio 1537 arrived and is working great, except when I installed CIsco VPN client to connect to my work. BSOD every time after anywhere from 5 minutes to sometime 30 minutes. A couple of times it was almost instant. Running Vista 32 bit, has the ATI radeon 256 graphics, and t9400 Intel (2.53) with 4 gigs ram (DDR2). When I dont have the vpn client running, it still works great. I'm not nearly as technical as many of you folks here, but with some details I am willing to try any suggestions you have. I'm in the process of checking with my IT dpt about a newer version of the Cisco client, but until I get the ok, I'm trying to see if there is anything I can do.
blue screen again!
