    all, i have a question about blue-tooth. [?]

can't find anywhere in the ibm thinkpad t40 manual about the blue-tooth, but thought i was informed somewhere that t40 is able to do blue-toothing.

is blue-tooth a hardware? additional software to install into t40? or even worst, what type of "animal" is it? is blue-tooth = wi-fi? if i want to use blue-tooth on t40, what should i do?

apology for this super rookie newbie question, but am hoping someone could please enlight me about this "blue-tooth". [|)]

    rgds,

Do a search for Bluetooth, its purpose and uses have been discussed before. It is an option on the T40, you may or may not have paid for it. Normally runs about $50 extra. And yes, it is a piece of hardware, along with software.

thanks for the enlightment... [ :)]

now have learned a bit about this bluetooth. you mentioned that it is an option in t40, thus you mean the hardware (bluetooh) does not come automatically with the package and we'll have to request it additionally [?]

how do i check that the t40 offered to me have the hardware inside?

    rgds,

If you have it in your possession look in the system properties. If it's one you are looking at, ask the retailer. If it's not listed on the spec sheet, it's not included. It doesn't sound like you need this anyway though.

My understanding is that the bluetooth hardware is a daughterboard that attaches to the existing modem card inside the TP. I use BT often and paid an onscene premium for iut on my X31. Probably not a wise decision, considering my CF slot has been empty since Day One and I could have easily popped a CF BT card in there and saved a wad of cash.

There are some very small USB BT adapters as well as PC cards. I understand you though, nothing beats an integrated solution!

I just found this product matrix for T Series. Match your model number to see if BT is supported by IBM.
