    Here's the situation:

I have an IBM - T30. It's 30 gig and 512 mb. Had it for about 3 months.

Recently, it's been freezing on me. Everytime I turn it on, it'll freeze about 5 min. later.

Most of time, I can't boot it up; it'll just show dark blank screen. Sometimes, it'll boot, and if I don't press F1 or F2 when it boots, it'll say:

"can't resume, hardware changed. turn off and reinstall what you removed or remove what you installed, while i was asleep. if you don't succeed, i'll abandon saved sys. state. after operation sys. is running agian, do full shutdown and install or remove hardware."

And rarely, it'll boot successfully, then freezes about 5 min. later.

Someone told me I didn't have enough ram (task manager said I was using 300 something out of 200 something).

My laptop boot up has always been a little slow, and I have installed very few small programs lately.

    WHAT'S THE PROB???

Well if it says you are using 300 of 200 that means you need more ram. Of course since it has been running fine in the past perhaps something else is wrong, or has it been doing this since you got it? You could also try making a backup of your important files and then reinstalling Windows which might help. But an extra 512MBs of ram is probably what you really need.

I believe this is compatible with the T30

One very odd thing which I think is worth a try: Try booting it up with only the AC adapter. Remove the battery.
I had a bad battery on one of my laptops once which caused a similar problem to what you described. It was certainly one of the most odd things I have ever seen. Albeit, it was a dell, and not a IBM, but either way, it takes like 30 secs to try...

    Thanks for your responses guys.

RefinedPower: my laptop was never like this; it just started happening recently. I'll try giving it more ram to work with, and consider reinstalling everything later. Thanks.

cvec7: Hmm, yeah that's worth a try. I'll consider giving it a shot. Thanks.
