Hey guys, i noticed that my thinkpad t400 boots twice, when i start it up...I get the Thinkpad screen, then type in my password, but then, the machine boots again, prompting for my password again...

i dont quite understand why its starting twice..and since I use the startup password...it gets quite annoying...any help would be appreciated.

you could try updating your BIOS to the latest version if you havnt already? also check the HD for errors. Thats the only advice I can give you.

Try using memtest86 to check for memory errors.

    Reseating the SODIMMs may help.

I just did a system restore (swapped out the drive for a 320GB WD Scorpio) and I got the double reboot as you described. However, after the initial boot things were back to normal.

Are you seeing this every time?
