    are there any new lenovo models on the horizon worth waiting for? i was thinking i'd just rec the x220. huge tia

    I don't see anything yet in tabook, I'm going to assume Lenovo will refresh all their systems when Ivy Bridge fully launches Q1 2012, as Sandy Bridge-E LGA2011 was just launched a few days ago.

    X220 with IPS screen if portability is the biggest consideration. The T420s may be an alternative which offers more screen real estate and, with the bay battery, provides good run time in a slim package. However, the display quality isn't in the same league as the IPS.

    I just find the difference between HD and HD+ to be so small, it's hardly worth mentioning, but that's me.

    If not standard, they'll probably do an upgrade program like the one they did going from Vista -> 7.

    No. The next cycle of machine appear to be coming in May/June. Windows 8 hasn't even done a public beta yet.
